August 22nd thru 24 Weekend
Gloria and I took a few days off, making it a longer weekend. Over the weekend we visited the Historical Orphan Home in Owatonna, watched the neighborhood turkeys visit our feeders and paint. The weather on Saturday and Sunday was dry, windy and sunny and rather cool. (Actually in the shade it felt cold...temp on Saturday barely made it to 70 degrees) On Saturday painted the white trim, then on Sunday repainted the trim and added all the green. Gloria did the lower area green while I added the upper area green. We were able to get 98% of the painting completed. Our contractor finished the new roof and in the process of building the screens put a serious nik in a finger with his power saw. Took off part of the nail, and sliced deep into the tip of his finger. He wouldn't go to the doctor.

Weekend August 15 to 17
The new porch and deck are gettng closer of being completed. This was one of the few great weekends this year. Mexican Sunflowers made the appearance for the 1st time this year. The turkeys came to visit a few times over the weekend and cleaned out the bird seed.

Cabin Weekend Aug 8th to 10th
From Friday through Sunday afternoon, this was the best weekend all summer. The half inch rain we received came during Friday night. On Sunday morning the temperature was 55 degrees. Felt more like mid September. For the past week Kolby was with us as Brandie and Jason were visiting Brandie's parents in Oregon.

Cabin Weekend August 1st to 3rd
On Thursday July 31st, a storm rolled through the area with sustained winds of 84 mph. Our dock and pontoon came loose. I drove to the cabin, put the dock back in place and tied the pontoon back up. The dock needs repair. Our neighbors tree fell on our boat house and we lost two sizeable branches from and old oak tree, just clipping our shed. We spent hours over the weekend trimming, cutting and hauling.
